Penni has earned strong loyalty from her clients based on a solid track record of expert investment planning, risk management and tax planning advice. Before joining Canaccord in 2006, she established and led the Institutional Sales Desk and then worked as an Associate Investment Advisor at Tristone Capital Inc. She started her career at one of Calgary’s elite energy investment firms, FirstEnergy Capital Corp., where she acquired an in-depth understanding of the oil and gas industry. With a demanding career and two young children, she understands the balancing act many successful professional women – and men – work hard to get right. She also knows how important it is for families to achieve and maintain financial security.

Penni has 19 years of experience in the financial services industry, is licensed to sell investments and options. She holds the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation and is working towards the Chartered Strategic Wealth Professional (CSWP) designation.

 

Colin Marks, B.Comm, LLB

Colin provides clients with financial planning advice informed by his experience as a practicing lawyer in South Africa and a successful business entrepreneur in Canada. He holds B.Comm and B.Law degrees from University of Natal, in Durban, South Africa. Before joining Canaccord in 2006, Colin was an Investment Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities. Prior to that, he owned, operated, managed and then sold a number of different businesses, including a sign company that was the major contractor for the Calgary 1988 Olympic Games.

Colin immigrated to Canada in 1981 after training and working as a lawyer in Cape Town. He brings a wide range of knowledge and know-how to the table including his legal and business expertise, the wisdom of a father to his 23-year-old twins, and the pragmatism that comes from advising clients through up and down markets. He believes strongly in investing for income and using equities judiciously to enhance long-term returns. Colin is licensed to sell investments, insurance and options.  As a lifelong, low-handicap golfer, Colin understands that success is based on a plan and focused “eye on the ball” approach both on the course and for his clients. Accordingly, he stresses the importance of a customized strategy for each client to most effectively suit their long-term investment goals.

Paul is responsible for wealth & estate planning at Canaccord Genuity Wealth & Estate Planning Services Ltd. Prior to working at Canaccord, Paul founded a financial planning service, Strategic Insurance, specializing in wealth management and tax planning services which focused on unique and advanced planning techniques. Before founding his financial planning practice, Paul had over 10 years’ management experience at large multinational manufacturing companies.

Paul holds certification as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), a professional financial designation specializing in developing effective solutions for individuals, business owners and professionals in the areas of income replacement, risk management, estate planning and wealth transfer.

Ashley Searle, MBA, CFP

Wealth & Estate Planning Specialist

Ashley collaborates with clients and wealth partners to create long-term, customized financial plans. She has been a Certified Financial Planner since 1997 and has extensive experience in retirement and financial planning. Prior to joining Canaccord Genuity, Ashley worked for TD Waterhouse Canada Inc. She has held a number of management positions in financial services in sales, service and training. Ashley has a BA from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from Dalhousie University.
